Intern, Climate Change and Energy Team

The British Embassy invites applications for the above position.

Responsibilities to include: Support research on energy related issues, with focus on renewable and biofuels; and help with the organisation of activities, such as: visits, workshops, seminars and missions.

This is a challenging job in a fast-moving team. The essential requirements are as follows:

  • Undergoing a university degree;
  • Interest and knowledge on Energy issues;
  • A self-starter with lots of enthusiasm and energy who can work well in a team but take the initiative to deliver;
  • Excellent communication skills in both spoken and written English and Portuguese;  and
  • Strong IT skills and literacy in Microsoft office packages (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

Payment: R$/hours (based on 2 minimum salaries)

Start date: November 2009.  The contract will be initially for 6 months, extendable by a further three months.

Forward Job Description

Main Purpose of Job

To provide a high quality research service for the Energy Team in the Embassy, as well as ad hoc logistical and administrative support during visits and special events.

Duties and Responsibilities  % of time 
  • Support research on energy related issues, under the guidance of the Embassy’s Energy Adviser. This will include support in writing reports (both in English and Portuguese) and providing input into other colleagues' work, as necessary.

  • Help with the organisation of activities agreed under the UK-Brazil Energy MoU, such as: visits, workshops, seminars and inward and outward missions.
