Previous ambassadors
The first British Ambassador to Brazil was Robert Gordon. He was appointed to the Post in the former capital, Rio de Janeiro, soon after Brazil’s declaration of independence, in 1826.
Our current Ambassador, Alan Charlton, is the 51st head of the British diplomatic mission in the country.

Brazil broke diplomatic relations with the United Kingdom in May 1863; the diplomatic mission left the country on 5 July. Diplomatic relations were re-estabilished two years later.
